Wall cabinetry in textured oak defines the organic atmosphere and creates the mood, while smooth-to-the-touch island cabinetry in a concrete effect mid-tone gray provides contrast and a slight industrial ruggedness. Open shelving on the sink wall keeps the space open and airy and allows for an unobstructed view of the landscaped front courtyard. Similarly, the island opens to the dining and living, and offers an expansive view of the backyard areas just beyond. A bar nook, fitted with a small sink and an undercounter wine fridge, was designed in coordinating materials as a natural extension of the kitchen. Thoughtful cabinetry material selections and quartz countertops throughout met the durability and easy maintenance qualities the family desired.
